Rotan City Council addresses issues

In attendance: Mayor Marisa Nowlin, Councilmen Donny Mullins, Patrick Zambrano, Larry Messick, Frank Miranda, and Scott Toliver, City Administrator Carla Thornton, Public Works Director Rodney Denton, Fire Marshall Red Bennet, citizens Don Mansker and Fisher County Chronicle Editor Jeff Hurt. 


Public Works Director says the roads are a problem


    Rodney Denton informed the council about a few minor water line breaks where the city lost some water. He went on to tell of his upcoming plans to begin some road maintenance in addition to some alley work. “We’ve got some pretty big chug-holes in some alleys,” said Denton. 

   Councilmen Donnie Mullins and Larry Messick shared ideas on ways Denton could improve the patching procedure for city streets and alleys. Mullins suggested the workmen use a leaf blower to remove debris from the holes before the patch is applied. There were additional suggestions regarding a variety of products to prep the hole with before the hole is filled. While Denton appreciated their advice and input, he assured the council he had tried every angle in order to get the patches to hold better.
