Hey ya’ll! Shana Haas here, and I am excited to announce my candidacy on the Republican Ballot for Fisher County Treasurer. I am very dedicated to becoming your next County Treasurer.  I was approached by several voters asking me to run for Treasurer, so I went out and spoke one on one with many folks of the county and asked what they expected from me if I was to become the next Treasurer along with gaining their support and signatures for me to be on the ballot without paying a filing fee.  Ya see I am a simple, outdoor loving, let’s go fishing, country gal that believes in getting the job done right the first time. My parents are Reece and Leatece (Counts) Schooley, and I proudly went to school in Rotan for 13 short but memorable years and graduated Rotan High School in 1994. In April of 1999, I married my best friend and soul mate Chris Haas, and we are still happily married after almost 17 years. In 2001, we decided that I would take a break from the work world and be a stay at home mom to our two wonderful children, Albert and Tabby, which I cherished every minute. In 2007, I became Chief Deputy County Clerk. I have a background in administration, computer programing, payroll, book keeping, human resources, accounting, Wolfpack, Microsoft, and DOS. I have many years of hands-on experience and training with these programs along with the nine years of being Chief Deputy County Clerk of Fisher County makes me a uniquely qualified individual for your Fisher County Treasurer. I already know how the county government works and how it was designed to work, and I am familiar with the Local Government code that dictates how the county can operate and what it should do. I am familiar with outside resources that assist in county operations. I have always known the importance of keeping good records; however, while working in the clerk’s office, I have become even more aware of the importance of keeping the county records, especially financial records. I am running for office because accountability, honesty and competency are essential. I believe in one strong unit instead of individual departments within the county government structure. I am running for Fisher County Treasurer because I believe in Fisher County, I am proud to call it my home, and want to see it at its best. This cannot happen unless all the elected officials and employees feel the same way. I will ensure these characteristics are the foundational qualities of the office. Anything less would be a betrayal to my family, my friends, and, most importantly, the ones that put their faith in me, the citizens of Fisher County. So I humbly ask for your vote on March 1st!
