A year on foreign soil: Rotan bids farewell to exchange student

When students imagine their senior year, most don’t picture leaving their families and moving over 5,000 miles away from home to a new country, and the thought of sacrificing a year of high school to embark on an adventure alone, only to return for two more years of school would never cross their minds. But that was the case for 2018 Rotan graduate Philip Schwarz.

Philip grew up in the small town of Warmensteinach, Germany. He is the son of Andreas and Ukike Schwarz, and oldest of three children.
