Texas A&M Forest Service Presents Cost Share Check to Stonewall VFD

(ASPERMONT, TEXAS) Nick Dawson, Regional Coordinator for the Texas Forest Service, presented The Stonewall County Volunteer Fire Department with a check for $200,000 which was applied to the cost of the new fire truck which was delivered to the department on May 14.

The department received cost share assistance under the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program, (HB 2604). The Rural VFD Assistance Program is a cost-share program funded by the Texas State Legislature. It provides funding to rural VFDs for the acquisition of firefighting vehicles, fire and rescue equipment, protective clothing, dry-hydrants, computer systems and firefighter training. The assistance was approved in October of 2016 following submission of an application filled out by the local department.
