The Aspermont Lady Hornets (28-4) won the II-1A Quarterfinals against the Benjamin Mustangs on Feb. 19, but fell short at the Semifinals against the Rankin Red Devils at Moody Coliseum at ACU on Feb. 22.

The Lady Hornets first took down the Benjamin Lady Mustangs at Hamlin on Feb 19 with a final score of 38-52 to clinch the quarterfinal championship trophy. Senior Kenadee Shugart lead all scorers with 16 pts,

Jena Berry 13 pts, Gracie English 7 pts, Sadie Gentry 5 pts, Aaliyah Miller 4 pts, Angelika Baez 2 pts, Karlie Oldham 2 pts, Mady Milloy 1 pt, and Gracie Fraiser 1 pt. Congratulations to the Lady Hornet for making it to the Regional Tournament!

The Lady Hornet team was then matched up against the Rankin Red Devils. The game was hosted by Abilene Christian University at Moody Coliseum on Feb. 22. The young Hornet team came out indecisive and jittery and let the pressure get to their heads. Aspermont, which has 4 sophomores and two freshmen, trailed 11-2 after the first quarter and 25-14 at halftime. The swarm played better in the second half, but had a dug a hole too deep to climb out of. The Lady Hornets were bedeviled by the Rankin team who scored the first 7 pts and never trailed en route to a 56-45 victory.
