Fisher County computer network worse than expected

The commissioners received an update Monday about last month’s cyber attack on the Fisher County Sheriff’s Department, also learning the county’s technology situation was much worse than originally thought and required immediate attention beyond the law enforcement center.

Sam Goldsmith with Goldsmith Solutions out of Plano met with commissioners for more than an hour behind closed doors last month to discuss the county’s computer security deficiencies and measures that could be taken to strengthen the system. The court voted unanimously in favor of the roughly $87,000 project that would address the immediate requirements to operate the department securely.
