A Poem for Mother’s Day

Gary Penney of Lorena writes and recites cowboy poetry. He has performed his work at some of the most prestigious cowboy poetry gatherings in the country. An Arizona artist, Marla Sellers, was working on a book of her paintings and asked Gary to write some verse for the book. One poem is called WRAPPED IN LOVE. “I came across a picture taken forty years ago. The picture was my mother; you could see her youthful glow. She wore a skirt of turquoise and a blouse of snowy white, a blue shawl draped around her and her hair was combed just right. The shawl had been a present given on her wedding day. She shared it with her children in a very special way.
