In Loving Memory

Eddie Gayle Thomas, Sr., 85, went home June 7, 2019 in Richmond, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 in Cross Trails Cowboy Church, Fairlie, Texas. Visitation will be from 12 until 2:00.

Eddie was son of A. W. Thomas and Vera Wright and was born in Fisher County Texas on May 6, 1934. He attended Rotan schools, Hardin-Simmons University 1962-1965, and Texas A&M University(College Station) 1976.

As an ordained Baptist minister, he preached in churches near Winters and in Nugent. He worked as a mechanic at the Chevrolet Dealership in Winters and McIntyre's in Abilene. He later taught Vocational Trades and Industry classes at Woodson and Jefferson Middle School in Abilene. Eddie moved to Manvel,Texas, near Houston, and taught in the Alief School District. He accompanied his VICA award winning officers to Washington, D.C. Eddie and his wife, Joyce, moved to Pearidge, Arkansas where he helped establish a Cowboy Church. Committed to the Lord, he worked in a prison ministry. After retiring in Texas, he taught in the Rogers School District another 1 O years. It was in Arkansas that Little Acres Ranch was founded.

Coming back to Texas, he again helped establish the Cross Trails Cowboy Church at Fairlie. At home on his farm he raised chickens and prize Boar goats. Breeders traveled great distances to buy Boar goats from him. Eddie's parents instilled in him a strong work ethic.

Eddie is survived by his children Dr. Cynthia Parish (Dale) of Orange, Texas, Joe Bill Thomas (JoAnn) of Valrico, Florida, and Lisa Morphis

(Mikel) of Needville, Texas. Two sisters Janet Deen (Wayne) of Merkel and Byrde Sparks of Rotan. Also, his grand children, who he bragged on and loved, are Russell Mercer(Johana), Carrie lrvin(Chris), Noah Thomas, Felisha DuPaul (Jeremy), Samantha Thomas, Casey Wolff, Alton Henderson, Chris Wright, Alec Wright, Jaime Wright, and Ally Morphis, Bryce Thomas and many great-grandchildren.

Eddie is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his parents A. W. and Vera, his brothers Roy Wayland Thomas and John Kirby Thomas, his two sons Eddie, Jr. and John Alfred Thomas, and two grandchildren Marlana Dawn Thomas and Christopher Deon Thomas.
