Roby Community Park welcomes everyone to Back to School Bash

The public works project nearing five years in progress, the Roby First Baptist Church will officially dedicate the completed park downtown to the community this Friday. With bouncyhouses, water slides, cookouts, bake sales, and an evening movie, the Back to School Bash is a community-wide event for a good cause.

Church congregant Cory Davis has overseen several fundraising events to benefit young people throughout the community. He said one of the reasons the church began the park project was to offer a place and purpose for community interaction.

It began almost five years ago when after discussing building a park, the church appointed a small group of church members to establish a park committee. As the years stretched on, virtually everyone in the church has been involved in some way.
