Aspermont citizens voice their support for AISD coach

While Monday night’s special called meeting of the Aspermont School Board referenced nothing more than to address issues relating to the coaching staff, the trustees listened as several of the near 40 community members in attendance spoke on behalf of AISD Coach Jerry Carreon. The board spent more than an hour behind closed doors and took no further action upon reconvening other than to adjourn.

Since taking over as coach just three years ago, Carreon has faced varying degrees of public backlash for — what has been considered by some to be — his harsh

coaching methods. Carreon has been candid about his coaching style, confessing that he puts his teams through “hell and back,” and understands the reality that his players are not always going to like him.
