Aspermont ISD has placed Coach Jerry Carreon on leave after weeks of public debate, with locals expressing both condemnation and support for the coach. The Department of Family and Protective Services also confirmed it conducted an investigation at the school, but there are no official reports linking the two incidents.

Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) representatives earlier this week confirmed the state had conducted an investigation at AISD. However, any specifics of the allegations, the investigation, the nature of any findings, or any individuals involved remain confidential by law.

Like all DFPS’s cases, school investigations begin when the department’s hotline receives a report alleging abuse or neglect of a child. Once initiated, investigators conduct interviews with the alleged victim(s), as well as the alleged perpetrator(s).
