The Roby CISD Student Council, along with its sponsor RISD Superintendent Keith Cook, and almost three-dozen volunteers opened paint cans and slathered brushes to honor National Make a Difference Day last Saturday.

Cook said the high school started a student council earlier this year, and officers President Anslee Few, Vice-president Lucy Alls, and Secretary Kolby Gilbreath were instrumental in the project coming together. As National Make a Difference Day is officially held the fourth weekend in October — overlapping Roby CISD’s homecoming festivities — the council and numerous volunteers got together a little early.

Council members, Cook, and over 30 others met at the school early Saturday morning. The district supplied paint and brushes and volunteers gave time and labor in a campus-wide beautification project. With dozens of things needing attention, just about everything from the press box to the curbs to the fire hydrants got a fresh coat of paint.
