With a number of upperclassmen on the sidelines, it was up the younger Yellowhammers to bring home the win last Friday night against Lueders-Avoca last Friday night, and the Rotan freshmen stepped upped to end the game 71-24 by the end of the third quarter.

Within the first two minutes of the game Oscar Trejo crossed the goal line for the first Rotan touchdown of the night. After a series of turnovers for each team, a calibrator broke through the defensive line for about a 60-yard touchdown run. Lueders missed the extra point, and the Yellowhammers stated in the lead by a single point.

Rotan continued to move the ball down the field with the good plays from Trejo, Brian Williams, and freshman Jordon Daniel, who had a spectacular debut varsity game.

An unsportsmanlike conduct call on the Raiders gave Rotan first and four. Williams pushed through the middle and into the end zone for another Yellowhammer touchdown. The Rotan defense continued to struggle with the Raider passing game, and another long pass completion kept the game within a single point, bringing the score to 13-12. After the kick return, a false start on Rotan ball back in Yellowhammer territory, but the offense continued to move the ball downfield. I pitch to Trejo on fourth down resulted in a big run downfield to squeeze in one more touchdown for Rotan with 38 seconds left in the first quarter.
