Dozens attend as AISD Board supports administration in employee grievance

Concerned community members filled the Aspermont ISD Board Room and spilled into the hallway Monday night, as trustees heard arguments from legal counsels representing AISD and Coach Jerry Carreon. Each attorney presented arguments regarding the school administration’s disciplinary actions against Carreon, and after some discussion in executive session, the trustees voted unanimously to uphold the original action.

While other school business was discussed, the large public turnout was to hear the matter of Coach Carreon’s formal grievance filed after he was replaced as the girls volleyball coach in late August following a series of complaints. The district stated that in the efforts to better support staff and address some district concerns, a change in coaching responsibilities was initiated.
