Peggy June Walker, age 79, of Saragosa, passed from this life Monday, October 14, 2019 in Odessa, TX. She was born and reared Thursday, June 13, 1940 just out of Rotan, TX, to Lester and Era Dean Hammit, and the fifth generation of her family to call Fisher County “Home”. After public schools, she attended Howard County College at Big Spring with a volleyball scholarship and Texas Tech University at Lubbock.

Peggy was a homemaker, an author, and the proud business owner of Needleworks, Etc. in Pecos and Alpine (and previously in Ft. Stockton and Jal, NM.) Peggy married Bob Walker in Wolforth, TX on February 16, 1968. He was a former competing member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. For six years, they resided in King County where Bob was employed by the 6666 Ranch

and served one term as Sheriff. Peggy was a member of the Pecos Chamber of Commerce, the West of the Pecos Rodeo Committee and the Pecos Cowboy Hall of Fame committee.

Those left to cherish her love and memory are her husband: Robert “Bob” Walker; brother: David Hammit and wife Debby of Madisonville, TX, sisters: Carol Ford of Odessa, Mara Beth Giller and husband Larry of Brazoria, TX and Merri Dileanis of Bosque Farms, NM; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Lester and Era Dean Hammit; brothers: Earl Dean Hammit and his wife Patty and Landon Radell Hammit; sister: Jolinda Perryman; two infant brothers who passed away at birth; and her brothers-in-law: Doyle Ford, Bill Dileanis and John Henderson.

A memorial was held at First Baptist Church of Pecos on October 26, 2019. Dr. Kevin Mitchell officiated. Arrangements are entrusted to Acres West Funeral Chapel and condolences to the family may be sent online at
