City of Rotan soon funded for multimillion dollar water upgrade

The city council adopted a resolution last week for the intent of using certificates of obligation to cover the cost of the city’s portion of a multi-million water system upgrade, beginning the final weeks of processing before Rotan is transferred the expected $5.2 million in funding from the Texas Water Development Board.

The City of Rotan began looking into funding upgrades for its aging water distribution lines over a year ago, shortly after President Trump signed $63 million in additional funding to the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) in March 2018. The city administration reviewed numerous grant and loan programs during the year.
