Roby CISD Trustees shut public out of salary schedule discussions

With questions from the press about proper justification for executive session still hanging in the air, the Roby CISD Trustees retreated behind closed doors last week, spending a half-hour discussing the allocation of almost $12,000 to increase pay for personnel across three categories on the 2021 employee salary schedule.

With 22 items on the agenda for discussion, 13 of which requiring action, last week’s Roby CISD Agenda was a little longer than average. The only one that raised concern was the solitary topic listed under executive session: Roby CISD Employee Salary Schedule for the 2021 Academic School Year.

The Double Mountain Chronicle reached out to the administration before the meeting with concerns that the salary schedule failed to meet the exemption requirements for executive session, and DMC Editor Jeff Hurt publicly voiced those concerns again prior to the board closing the doors to the public last Monday night.
