Carole Jean Hargrove Justiss

Carole Jean Hargrove Justiss, 82, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 25, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Rotan, Texas. Burial will follow in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home of Big Canoe, GA, and stepdaughter, Vicki Reynolds of Abilene; grandchildren, Kayla Justiss, Morgan Justiss, Emily Gilbert (Phil), Katie Bryant (Josh), Brittany Brasher (Matt), Will Becker (Laura), Lauren Hurdt (John), Allison Beatty (fiancé Tim Coats), and Brooke Beatty; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Madeline, & Eleanor Gilbert, Gunnison, Jenson, & Boone Brasher, and Baron Bryant; sister, Joyce Smith of Rotan; brother-in-law, Lee Mason (Jo) of Wildorado; and twenty-six nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Violet Upshaw, Joe Mack Hargrove, and Jane Mason; and former husband, Wayne Justiss, the father of her children.

Bobby “Bob” Earl Terry, 83, passed away Friday December 27, 2019, in a Sweetwater hospital. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday December 31, 2019, at Roby Cemetery followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Roby First Baptist Church under the care of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Bob was born August 20, 1936, to Pink Thurman Terry and Dorothy Murll (Rollans) Terry at their home in Fisher County. He married Wynelle Hull March 28, 1959, at Roby where they lived and raised their family.

Rotan- Jimmie L Marks, 86, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born September 15, 1933, in Lamesa, Texas, Jimmie was the son of the late Jess and Cleytus (McHenry) Marks. His first love was his family. He loved being “Gramps”. Jimmie’s second love was the United States Army where he served for 25 years as an E6. He was in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Jimmie was a farmer, rancher, landscaper, mechanic, truck driver and so much more. He lived in many different places throughout his life. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law; two sons, Jimmy Dewayne, and Jerrel Ray; two brothers, Jerry Marks, and Wayne Porter.

Roby- Billy Wayne Reed, 87, passed away peacefully at his home in Roby, Tx December 23, 2019. Graveside services will be at 10:00am Friday, December27, 2019, in the Sylvester Cemetery, under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

He was born in Gladewater, Tx July 29, 1932, B.W. was the son of the late James and Velma (Smith) Reed. He graduated from Sylvester High School and attended accounting school in Dallas. B.W. was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a hard-working farmer, rancher and Dairyman. B.W. enjoyed going to the gin and coffee shops to visit with his friends to tell stories. Papaw also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys along with watching his grandkids play ball. He also enjoyed cooking for the holidays.

B.W. is preceded in death by Lillie Mae (Raphelt) Reed, his parents, one sister, Joyce Boen, and two brothers, Bobby and Harold Gene Reed.

Venita Bea Bickerstaff, age 78, passed away on December 22, 2019 in Tahoka, TX (near Lubbock). Bea was born to Earl and Pinnie Dicken in Wichita Falls, TX and resided in Fisher County, near Sweetwater, TX since 1962. She recently battled pneumonia and never really recovered from the loss of her beloved husband, Ernest Lee Bickerstaff, who passed away in 2017. Services will be held at 1:00p on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Rotan, TX. Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan will handle arrangements, but no prior viewing is planned. Burial will be in the Rotan Belvieu Cemetery.

Bea dearly loved her kids and grandchildren, and a special cousin, Jo Powell. She always enjoyed

company and conversation, with a special fondness for sending cards and gifts to friends and family for any occasion. She kept a meticulous calendar for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.

John William Gholson

John William Gholson, 69, of Giddings, Texas was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 22, 2019. John was born in Atwood, Kansas on July 6, 1950, the son of Wilburn Ralph “Bo” and Ethel Christine (Sandlin) Gholson. He married Sherrill Lynn Dockins on May 31, 1969 in Hamlin, Texas. John was a chief/project inspector in the oil and gas industry and worked on numerous jobs all over the United States. In all of his travels, he met so many people and touched so many lives. He was an inspiration and a mentor to all of his inspectors.

John passed away the morning of Sunday, December 22, 2019 at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station, Texas.

Sorry I missed the news last week, time just slipped up on me. Too much Christmas and lot of visitor. I suppose everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Folks were having Christmas all different days, so they could have all the families.

Darbee, Laynee, and Hazelee New from Haskell spent a few days with their grandparents, Dale and Carm Letz last weekend.

Danny and Phyllis Letz was among the many that attended the Christmas Special at the First United Methodist Church in Sagerton last Monday. On Tuesday, Phyllis met her sister, Laura Andress, in Haskell for lunch, a nice visit, and gift exchange. Later in the afternoon, she went to Abilene to take daughter, Jana Hinkle, and granddaughter, Deann Conner out to lunch and shopping.

Danny Letz and his band played at Buck's in Sweetwater last Saturday evening.
