GAIL ANN SNAPP,

GAIL ANN SNAPP, 70, of Denton, died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Snapp was born on February 15, 1946 in Rotan, TX to Loyd and Geneva (Bennett) George. She was married to David Snapp on June 14, 1963 in Rotan, TX. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, David Snapp of Enid, OK, Steven Snapp of Corinth, TX; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Janette George and brother, Loyd Wayne George.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 13, 2016 in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust, Denton.

WINDELL LEE BARRETT, 82, of Camp Springs, TX passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Abilene. Graveside Services for Mr. Barrett was held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 3:00pm at the Barrett Family Cemetery with Pastor Hohn Erwin officiating and assisted by Rev. Joshua Smith and Rev. Loyal Watkins. A Memorial Luncheon and visitation for Mr. Barrett was held on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at noon at the Hermleigh Community Center. Services were under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Mr. Barrett was born on May 22, 1933 in Matador, TX to J.B. and Tennie (Wolfe) Barrett. He married Ann Etheredge on Spetember 04, 1954 in Hobbs, Texas. He is survived by wife: Ann Barrett, son: Corby and wife Kelly Barrett, Perryton, TX 4 graddaughters: Amy Rowe, Sylacauga, AL, Lacy and husband Kevin Stark, Ft. Worth, TX, Amanda and husband Nathan Lewis Canadian, TX, Walker Barrett, Camp Springs, TX. 7 Great Grandchildren: Kaleb, Lily, Allie, Jack, Eleanor, Avarie and Sariah.

BEN EMMETT NEEPER

BEN EMMETT NEEPER, 91, of Roby, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 in San Angelo, TX.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 2nd, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Roby with Pastor Toby Irwin of San Angelo officiating.  Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born November 8, 1924, in Willow, Arkansas, Ben was the son of Phillip and Margaret (Timberlake) Neeper.  Ben was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a retired farmer and a 32nd Degree Mason.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Margaret Neeper; brothers Havis, Maurice, Darrell, Loy and Jay; sisters; Janet and Evelyn; one son, Terry Gene Neeper; sister-in-laws, Doris, Betty, and Arlene; brother-in-laws, Whit and Royce; one son-in-law, Ronald Wright.

Penny (Penelope) Yanez Thomas

Penny (Penelope) Yanez Thomas passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the young age of 47. Penny was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 9, 1968. Her family returned to Rotan, Texas when she was four years old. She attended Rotan schools and was blessed with the benefits of small town living. Penny graduated at 17 and then formed a family with Micheal Fon Thomas, previously of Tulsa, Oklahoma, also a Rotan graduate. They had three children: Stephanie, Shawn and Shande (wife Shaylynn), all of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Penny also had one grandchild, Alayna Marie Thomas, the light of all their lives.

Orbie Ray Kiker

Orbie Ray Kiker was born in Bronte, Texas September 2 7, 1924 and went to be with the Lord on April 11, 2016 surrounded by his whole family. Ray was the oldest of two children born to Orbie Sparks and Margaret Elizabeth Kiker. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. 
He graduated from Rotan High and joined the Army as a para­trooper. Ray graduated from Southwestern University with a de­gree in Business. Upon graduation he went to work for American General Investment in Houston for 25 years. Early retirement brought him to Lago Vista where he worked in real estate. 
Ray dearly loved Lago Vista and was a member of Lakeside Christian Fellowship, Lago Vista Men’s Golf Association, Lago Vista Lions (2009 Lion of the Year). He was a member of the Southwest Football Association with the Houston Oilers for 2 8 years.

CHRISTELLE “CHRIS” MANIES, 89, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Church of Christ in Rotan.  Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Funston, Texas, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born July 28, 1926, in Abilene, Chris was the daughter of Leslie Gordon and Cora Lea (Simmons) Vassar.  Chris graduated from Stamford High School and received her beautician license. She owned and operated Chris’s Beauty Shop in Anson.  Chris enjoyed fishing, playing cards, working puzzles and helping out with the shut-in and food bank ministries.  Chris was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Rotan and enjoyed working at the church.  
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Leslie Vassar Jr.

TERESA LOU (ALLEN) TANKERSLEY,

TERESA LOU (ALLEN) TANKERSLEY, 66, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at her home in Rotan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Rotan, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

   Born October 7, 1949, in Hamlin, Teresa was the daughter of William Robert “Buddy” and Lettie (Franklin) Allen. She attended school in Hamlin, and married the love of her life, Jackie Ladell Tankersley, on December 28, 1967, in Hamlin. The couple moved often to follow Jackie’s Army career and bridge and road construction career before settling in Rotan in 1994. Teresa enjoyed being outside and working on her yard. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

   She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Tankersley; her parents, Buddy and Lattie Allen; and her brother, Robert Allen.

JACKIE DWAIN MILES - “J.D.” Born February 16, 1932, continuing on with Jesus into Everlasting Life on April 6, 2016
   Jackie Dwain Miles (“J.D.”), of Meadow Vista California, passed away on April 6, 2016 in Auburn, California of natural causes at the age of 84.  
   He was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. A.O. Miles, of Snyder, Texas on February 16, 1932 in Soper, Oklahoma, during the great depression era.  He was the second son of 13 children, born into a very loving family.  The Miles family moved to Snyder, Texas in 1938.  They lived on farms as tenant farmers around Snyder for a few years before they eventually moved into town.  Jackie attended his first 11 years of school in Snyder before the family moved to Rotan, Texas where he graduated from Rotan High School.
