G.W. (SHORTY) Crawford husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend was called to his eternal resting place on August 6, 2016. He was born January 15, 1918, to Bud Burton and Eula Mae Campbell Crawford.

   Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church of Rotan, with burial following at Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

ROBERT CHARLES “BOB” GREENLEE

ROBERT CHARLES “BOB” GREENLEE, 64, passed away Friday, August 5, 2016, at his home in Rotan. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the First Baptist Church of Rotan, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.

Born February 17, 1952, in Breckenridge, Bob was the son of Charles Everett and Dortha Faye Greenlee. He graduated from Abilene High School and Western Texas College. On September 18, 1976, he married the love of his life, Cecilia Jane Adams, in Rotan. Bob worked as a truck driver for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially visiting his children and grandchildren. Bob loved God and he was baptized at the age of ten by Howard Key at the Central Church of Christ in Abilene. He had the honor of baptizing both of his children.

Graveside Services will be held, 10:00 A.M.  Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend Robert Carey officiating. Burial will be at Belvieu Cemetery, Rotan, Texas.

   Born, November 6, 1954 in Rotan, Texas. Kenneth was the son of Ernistine Acorn. Kenneth was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. On January 7, 1982 he married Annette Williams in Austin, Texas. He was an automotive detailer.

Mrs. Edith Lankford Moore, 92 of Big Spring, formerly of Roby passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 in Big Spring, TX. Funeral Service for Mrs. Lankford-Moore will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 , at 2:00 PM at Roby First Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Vincent officiating. Internment will follow at Snyder Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

   Mrs. Lankford Moore was born on November 03, 1923 in Snyder, TX to Edgar and Gladys(Henley) Eades.She married Lenard C. Lankford on September 22, 1945 in Snyder, TX. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1994. She married Garland Moore on January 14, 2005 in Roby, Tx. He preceded her in death on August 01, 2008.

Roby-Tammy Lynn Morton, 56, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016, in Rotan.  Funeral services will be  10:00  a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Roby.  Burial will be in Roby Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan.

 Born February 19, 1960, in Snyder, Tammy was the daughter of Patsy (Newman) Ashworth and the late Joseph Leon Ashworth.  She married Ricky Morton in Colorado City on August 16, 1991.  Tammy served as the Fisher County Justice of the Peace for nine years.   Her grandchildren were the love of her life and she enjoyed taking care of them.   She also enjoyed baseball and softball and traveling.  The Texas Rangers were her favorite team.  Tammy was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Snyder.

Tammy is preceded in death by her father.

Jesse David Hellums, 86

Jesse David Hellums, 86, beloved husband, father, friend and esteemed Professor Emeritus of Bioengineering at Rice University, passed away on June 26, 2016.  

David was born to John Verrell Hellums and Fannie May Beauchamp on August 19, 1929 in Stamford, Texas and grew up in Rotan, Texas where his father was a banker and his parents ran a family grocery business.

David earned his B.S. and M.S. chemical engineering degrees from the University of Texas and his PhD from the University of Michigan in 1960. While studying in Austin he met the love of his life, Marilyn Biel. They were married in 1957 and had three children: Mark William, Jay David, and Robert James Hellums.

Hermleigh- James (Richard) Ratliff, 77, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016.  A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Rotan, directed by Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home in Rotan. 

Born April 13, 1939, in Clairmont, James was the son of the late Chess and Maudie (Tatum) Ratilff.  He grew up and attended schools in Clairmont and Rotan.  He married the love of his life Dianna Coggins September 1, 1959, in Rotan.  James was a lifelong farmer and rancher who enjoyed shelling pecans and feeding his fish. He was a real outdoors man, he loved anything to do with land.  James was a Baptist.

James is preceded  in death by his son, James “Jimbo” Richard Ratliff III, four brothers, Joe Ratliff, Willie Ratliff, and CD Ratliff;  and three sisters, Betty Fuchs, Georgie Storie, and Christine Ratliff.

JOHN KENNETH SMITH

JOHN KENNETH SMITH, 79 of Rotan, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

Visitation will be at 3pm and Memorial Service at 4pm on Sunday June 12th 2016 and burial will follow at the Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan Texas.

John was born in Fisher County on December 29, 1936 to Frank & Annie (Polk) Smith.

John married his soul mate and life time friend Frances Mize in Sweetwater Texas on December 13th 1958 that lasted 58 years.

They were blessed with 7 children, 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

John had a love for farming, horses, coon hunting & John Wayne movies.

He lived well, laughed often and loved his family. He was the strength and foundation of his family.

A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home Chapel.
 
Born March 30, 1974, in Ennis, Texas, Raymond was the son of Thomas Almanza Sr. and Ramona Martinez. A longtime Rotan resident, he moved to Florida before moving to Mineral Wells in 2003. He worked many jobs over the years. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing, dancing, and bar-b-queing. A family man, Raymond loved spending time with his children and brothers, and playing with his grandchildren.
 
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Martinez; his granddaughter, Isabel Trejo; one brother-in-law, Bay Velasquez; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
