Lady Lions’ season comes to a close

The Lady Lions’ season came to an end Friday in the area round of the playoffs with a loss to Patton Springs. Hallie Edmondson led the Lady Lions in scoring with 22 points, and Kaylee Weaver had a double double with 10.points and 10 rebounds.

Lady Hornets making a Buzz in the Play-offs

Following their victory against Spur on the 15th, the Lady Hornets traveled to Hamlin Tuesday night and punched their ticket to the regional tournament with a win over Benjamin. Hammers Boys go 1-1 in final two matches

The Rotan Varsity Boys played their last home game on February 8 against the Paint Creek Pirates. The Hammers trailed 0-3 with 6:53 left in the opening period, but the Hammers led 11-9 at the end of this period. With 5:56 left in the second period, the game was tied at 13 for each team.

Lady Lions secure Bi-District Championship

The Roby Lions and the Rule Bobcat met Friday night in Roby with the Bobcats winning 59 - 61. Jake Byers hit a three point shot at the buzzer to pull the Lions within one point at the end of the first period. The Bobcats increased their lead to nine at the half leading 23 -32. The Lions came out determined in the third period' cutting the lead to five points by the end of the period.

Lady Hammers finish season with win over Lueders

The Lady Hammers closed out their 2018-2019 basketball season with a 49-24 victory over the Lady Red Raiders of Lueders-Avoca on February 1.It was a night to honor the seniors: KaitlinBowen, Jax Hurt, Jackie Dunn, and Raychel Anderle. The four individuals has been a big partof the Lady Hammers basketball program overthe past several years. Their dedication to leadon and off the court and their attitude to give thebest of themselves in each phase of every game…led to each player contributing over the past fourseasons. Bowen was a ‘GAME-CHANGER’, herpresence on the court was a huge impact for herteammates. Throughout her high school career(2015-2019), she played in 40 district games andshe accumulated 198 scored points, 182 rebounds, 44 steals, and 32 assists.

Week of play for Lady Hornets ends with District Title

Aspermont Vs. Hamlin

The Aspermont Lady Hornets played one of their last district match-ups against the Hamlin Pied Pipers on Jan. 28th. The Lady Hornets played a tough game of back and forth until the final game-sealing free throws in the last minute and clinched their first district (14-1A) championship in over 20 years edging out Hamlin 41-44.

In the 1st quarter, the Pipers aggressive defense only allowed the swarm to score 2 pts. Sophomore Jenna Berry, high point for the night, sank 2/2 (100%) free throws while the Pipers put in 9 pts during the quarter. The score at the end of the quarter was 9-2, Hamlin.

The Lady Hammers and Rotan Hammers were the visiting teams at Rule on January 22. The team took an early 7-0 lead with 3:49 left in the opening period and led the remaining three periods to defeat the Lady cats 39-12. Stats as follows: Bowen-6 PTS, 8 RBS, and 1 steal; Denton-6 PTS, 5 RBS, 3 steals; Hurt- 2 PTS and 4 RBS; Corn-3 RBS, 2 assists, and 1 steal; Dunn-10 PTS, 3 RBS, 3 steals, and 1 assist; Buchanan-11 PTS (9/12 free throws for 75%), 9 RBS, and 3 steals; Gentry-4 RBS and Anderle-3 RBS; Flores. The Varsity Boys team defeated the Rule Bobcats by the final score of 40-27. The stats as follows: Daniel 12 PTS (50% on making 2/2 free throw shots), 11 RBS, 1 assist, and 1 steal for a double-double; Tankersley-2 PTS, 4 RBS, and 1 assist; Bell-7 PTS, 13 RBS, 2 assists, and 1 steal; Elrod-6 PTS (50% on making 2/4 free throw shots) and 6 RBS; Foster- 13 PTS (100% on making 4/4 free throw shots), 9 RBS, and 1 assist; Cope-4 RBS.
