Yellowhammers on four-game losing streak after loss to Hermleigh

With both Rotan and Hermleigh coming off previous game losses to Aspermont, both teams had something to prove last Friday night. Although pounded in the first half of the game, the Yellowhammers came into the third quarter a noticeably different team, but it just wouldn’t be enough, as the Cardinals would go on to win 76 – 26.

With Rotan receiving the kickoff, they began a slow churn downfield. The Hermleigh defense—who proved tough competition for the Hammers throughout the game—forced a turnover on downs with about seven minutes left in the first quarter.

Aspermont wins final game against Bobcats before district play

By Jeremiah & Terry Morris

The Aspermont Hornets made their way down HWY 380 in search of their 5th win. The search would lead them 21 miles east and in the home of their long time rival, the Rule Bobcats.

The Bobcat team had to take a rain check in the 2017 season due to lack of players. There would be a game on this night, although the Bobcats may have wished to use their rain check option again as the swarm came out hot and never looked back. A 36-0 score at the end of the 1st quarter and 60-0 at halftime ended the ballgame due to the mercy rule.

Looking finely tuned and well oiled, the Hornets scored at will and with multiple players reaching the end zone by ground and air on offense. The defense chipped in with stop after stop, a few interceptions, some big hits, and even a safety. It was a great showcase of the SWARM’S teamwork and talent.
