Final Results of the 2016-2017 Season

The Rotan Lady Hammers—a great team—gave their fans an extended game to cheer them on as they reached the first round of the Class 1A State Playoffs. Each player contributed throughout each district game (ten total) to achieve this accomplishment in the early stage of their high school career. This team consists of two freshmen, eight sophomores, and one junior. Previously, only two of the sophomores have had limited varsity experience. Over a span of ten games, this team accounted for 391 district points for an average of 39.1 per game. Freshman R. By Henry Williams

On January 31, the Rotan Lady Hammers and the Rotan Hammers faced the Roby Lady Lions and the Roby Lions for the second time this season. Both of Rotan’s teams approached each game hoping to even the series. The Lady Hammers were the visiting team, as they prepared themselves for the second game of the two-game series.

In the first period, Hurt was 75% on foul shots, making 3 out of 4; Bowen made two points, and Denton made two. The team trailed 7-22 at the end of the opening period.

Shawna’s Boys

By: Shawna Faucett

“Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him” - Psalm 127:3. This year I decided to take on coaching a Little Dribblers team. My team this year is the 5th and 6th grade boys. My team consists of Keegan Encizo, Coker Johnston, Brennan Faucett, Dawson Shipp, Kayden Nelson, Tyler Stewart, and Houston Few. So far this season, the easiest thing was deciding a team name. Everyone, the players, the parents, and myself included, agreed on “Shawna’s Boys”.

After a few practices, you start to notice everybody;s quirkiness. For instance, Houston is always making jokes, and coker is always smiling. If you asked my buddy Tyler what the color of the sky was he would answer with “yes ma’am”.Keegan is more positive than a plus sign. Brennan, well… he’s brennan. Dawson has the swagger and kayden has the sweetness.
