Lady Hornets win Area Championship

The Aspermont Lady Hornet Volleyball Team advanced to Regional competition Tuesday night after defeating the Buena Vista Lady Longhorns in a 3-0 sweep. The Longhorns provided a fair challenge to the Hornets, coming up short 25-17 in the first two sets and bringing the third set down to the wire. Through the efforts of a determined Hornet attack led by Senior Shelby Calamaco, who sealed the game point, the Lady Hornets punched their ticket to the Regional Quarterfinals, winning the final set 25-23. The Lady Hornets next opponent will be the Lady Eagles of Van Horn in Andrews at 2 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 7.

WTC Welcomes Jazexhiu as New Men’s Head Soccer Coach

SNYDER— Western Texas College is excited to announce that the Athletic Department named Elton Jazexhiu the new Men’s Head Soccer Coach. Jazexhiu comes to Western Texas College after three years as Head Assistant Coach with the Men’s and Women’s Soccer programs at Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lions beat Hornets 67-34

The Roby Lions traveled to the Hornet Stadium last week, defeating Aspermont in Friday’s conference game with a final score of 67-34. After a tough defeat against the Hermeigh Cardinals, the Hornets had two weeks to prepare for the Lions.

Yellowhammers suffer second district loss

The Yellowhammers suffered their second district loss last week against the Cardinals, falling 62-14 and are offcially knocked out of any playoff opportunity. The Cardinals received the kick and didn’t waste any time as they would make the score 6-0 with less than 10 minutes left in the first quarter.
