2021 High Plains budgets, profitability analyzer available to producers

As producers begin planning for their new cropping season, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has released the 2021 District 1 Texas Crop and Livestock Budgets (https://agecoext.tamu.edu/resources/crop-livestockbudgets/budgets-byextension-district/district-1-panhandle/2021-district-1-texas-crop-andlivestock-budgets/) and an updated 2021 High Plains Crop Profitability Analyzer budgeting tool (https://agecoext.tamu.edu/resources/decisionaids/).

Fisher county sheriff’s office received (38) 911 calls, (6) reports of stray livestock, assisted other agencies on (3) calls, and (35) other calls for service. Fisher county ems responded to (12) emergency calls and (6) nonemergencies. Fisher county volunteer fire departments responded to (1) calls.

WTC Receives $100,000 Grant to Provide Training for Local Businesses

SNYDER— The Texas Workforce Commission awarded Western Texas College (WTC) a second Skills Development Fund Special Initiative Grant for $100,000. The grant provides workforce training to local businesses at little or no cost. WTC renewed the grant after successfully distributing $50,000 from their first award. The funding can now be used for part-time employees in addition to full-time employees.

Aspermont ISD announces refunding savings

Aspermont Independent School District announces the closing of the Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2020. The Refunding Bonds will save Aspermont ISD over $581,500.00 in interest costs. Superintendent Zach Morris, stated, "the refunding provides significant interest cost savings showcasing our commitment to provide the highest quality education, while reducing the cost to our taxpayers."

Dinner Tonight Cooking Show

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Haskell County is hosting a Dinner Tonight Cooking Show on January 17th at 3:00pm at First Baptist Church Family Activity Center. Kelli Brown, Haskell County AgriLife Extension Agent, is excited to bring this program to Haskell County and hopes to make this an annual event.
