Louie Clint Hayes, born January 27, 1936, on the family farm in Fisher County, Texas, passed away December 15, 2020 at the age of 84.

Louie was the son of Martin Lewis and Beatrice (Reeves) Hayes. He graduated from Hobbs High School and Howard Payne University—attending on a track scholarship. Louie loved to remember and share stories of his days running for coach Cap Shelton at HPU, and many lifelong friends were made during that time. Louie was a farmer at heart and was proud of every crop he helped to produce—whether cotton or vegetables. He was a faithful Gideon and follower of Christ, and member at Cross Roads Baptist Church. He never met a stranger, loved to play dominoes, go dancing, and enjoyed following sports of all kinds.

Louie married Esther Firestone in 1961 and their three sons survive him: Willie and wife Tana of Magnolia; Weldon and wife DeAnna of Crane; and Ward and wife Jenna o Murphy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: Nathan, Bethany (husband Nick), Zach, Cheyenne, Gregory, Alex, Tate (wife Tiffany), Mackensey (husband Steven), and Hanna; three great-grandchildren: Everly, Willow, and Corbin; brother Wilton (wife Pat), sister Dorothy, sister-in-law Jean, and several nephews and nieces. Louie is preceded in death by his parents and brother Doyle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Gideons International.
