Sherry Elaine Armstrong was born June 3, 1948, in Rotan, TX, to Buddy and Wanda (Gable) White. She gracefully danced into heaven to meet her Savior on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19th at Tankersley Funeral Home 807 Columbia Stamford, TX. Graveside Services for Sherry will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in the Ericksdahl Community with Rev. Richard Strait officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 requirements the family has requested everyone attending the visitation or graveside services to please wear a mask.

Sherry graduated from Rotan High School in 1966. Following high school Sherry entered Western Texas College where she became a licensed cosmetologist. Sherry worked as a bookkeeper for an electric company in Odessa, TX before moving to Kentucky. While there she enrolled in McKendree College in Elizabethtown, KY where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting. Eventually Sherry returned to Rotan, Texas and met Oscar Armstrong at one of the area Senior Citizens’ dances. On August 18, 2012, she was united in marriage to Oscar Armstrong at Bethel Lutheran Church in the Ericksdahl Community. The couple has resided in Stamford since 2012.

Sherry is described by her family as a fine, caring woman whose world revolved around her family, especially being “Memaw” and loving her grandchildren. Oscar refers to her as the best dancer around! Sherry loved to dance, was an avid photographer when it came to taking family photos, an excellent cook, as well as an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Buddy White, and brother, David White.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar Armstrong of Stamford, TX; her mother, Wanda White of Rotan, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Emily Alls of Rotan, TX; son, Tracy Elrod of Odessa, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Donald McQueen of Rotan, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Laura White of Florence, TX; grandchildren: Brianna Desmond and husband Clint, Bryson Alls and Trystin Elrod; great grandchildren: Kynzlee, Rhody and Henley Alls and Braelyn Desmond; stepson and wife, Andy and Kathy Armstrong of Midland, TX; stepdaughter, Cindy Hancock of Plano, TX; stepdaughter and husband, Sybil and David Carby of Midland, TX; stepson and wife, Russell and Cristal Hubbard of Colorado Springs, Colorado; niece and husband Julie and Jerry Murdoch of Brownwood, TX; niece, Lynette McQueen of Rotan, TX; niece and husband, Eleshia and Jamie Rivers of Abilene, TX; niece and husband Amber and Jeff Cave of Ballinger, TX; niece and husband, Michelle and Kyle Sommer of Austin, TX; a very dear and best friend, Laurie Sharp; several great nieces, nephews and friends.
