August 8, 1934 — September 20, 2023 Alta B. Hinson, 89, of Rotan passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday September 26, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Rotan with burial to follow in Belvieu Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation prior to the service at the church starting at 1:00 pm. Services are under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home of Rotan.

Born on August 9, 1934, Alta B. Hinson was the daughter of A.B. and Oleta (Mize) Parker. After graduating from Rotan High School, she completed her nursing training from Hendrick school of Nursing in Abilene and became an RN. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science degree from Hardin-Simmons University in 1970. She married the love of her life, Garvis Hinson on June 9, 1956.

Alta dedicated herself to her profession and became a beloved member of the nursing staff at Callan Hospital and later at Fisher County Hospital. Throughout her tenure there, she touched countless lives with her kindness, expertise, and unwavering dedication to providing excellent care to her patients. Her passion for nursing was evident in all that she did.

Outside of her professional life, Alta found joy in various pursuits. She loved quilting, sewing, reading, and crocheting. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Rotan, where she taught children’s Sunday School for many years, and was active in the choir, handbells, kitchen hospitality, and various children’s activities.

Alta leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. She is survived by her daughter Brenda McCall; son Paul Hinson and his wife Delanna; daughter Linda Brown; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Garvis Hinson, and her sons-in-law Jack McCall and Dean Brown.
