Esther Lee (Firestone) Fields, born on August 26, 1943, in Clovis, New Mexico, went home to be the Lord September 3, 2023. In those eighty years, she loved and lived a beautiful testimony. Graveside services will be 3:30pm Saturday September 9, 2023 in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan under the direction of Weathersby- Ray funeral home.

Born to parents Otis and Esther Pearl (Stone) Firestone, she attended Hobbs schools (near Rotan) before graduating from Snyder. She married Louie Hayes soon after graduation and was a wonderful mother to three sons (Willie, Weldon & Ward). Her life of faith, in and out of the church, was instrumental in her family becoming Christ followers, and she lived out her faith all her days. She worked hard and stayed busy all her life, whether at home or in business. Her decades working with farmers at cotton gins in Hobbs and Port Lavaca highlighted her abilities well.

Esther (Granna) loved her family well, especially her grands and great-grands. She gushed over her babies. She also loved helping others, serving in any capacity, quilting, tending her beautiful flowers and yard, being a friend, being part of her Jabez Sunday School class, and caring for others in so many ways. Her ten years of marriage to James (Jim) Fields was treasured by her to the highest degree, and she always looked forward to seeing him again in Heaven.

Esther is survived by her sons Willie Hayes and wife Tana of Magnolia, Weldon Hayes of Monahans, Ward Hayes and wife Jenna of Murphy, grandchildren Nate, Bethany and her husband Nick, Zach and his wife Natalia, Cheyenne, Gregory, Alex, Tate and his wife Tiffany, Mackensey and her husband Steven, and Hanna; her great-grandchildren Everly, Willow, River, Corbin, Charleigh, Reese, and many more family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Orvie, June and Charlene, and her beloved husband Jim.

Esther would be thrilled by memorials sent for Hendrick Hospital Ladies Auxiliary or Pioneer Drive Baptist Church’s new sanctuary.
