Danny Paul Harris, DP, passed away June 20, 2023 at the age of 68. DP was born in Spur, Texas on December 18, 1954 to Charlie Paul Harris and Teddye Epley Harris Templeton.

Danny grew up in Spur and moved to Jud his senior year graduating from Rochester High School in 1973. After graduation he worked in the oil field for a short time and then moved to the panhandle where he worked for Southwestern Public Service building substations. In 1979 he returned to Jud where he farmed until 1993 when he began working as a marine seismic observer and retired from CGG Veritas in 2015. On June 22, 2001 he married Jan Hawkins in Jud, Texas.

DP loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting quail and dove. Some of his fondest memories were deep sea fishing trips with family and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his father Charlie Paul Harris of Spur, Texas and his mother Teddye LaRue Epley Templeton and step-father Jessie Tempelton of Rochester, Texas and uncle David Epley of Jud, Texas.

A visitation was held held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Rochester, Texas from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on June 23, 2023 followed by a visitation at Giles McCoy funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in Aspermont, Texas. Graveside services were held at 10:00 AM on June 24, 2023 at the Idella Cemetery in Jud, Texas officiated by Darin Epley under the care and direction of Giles McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.

Danny is survived by his wife Jan of Old Glory, Texas, daughters Teddye Sue and husband Tres Myers of Aspermont, Texas, Sarah and husband Kevin Kafer of Abilene, Texas, Cassie and husband Brett Bart of Fountain Hills, Arizona, Amy and husband Jodey Clark of Palava, Texas. He was affectionately referred to as Grumpa by his grandchildren Myka and Mabree Myers, Jayden Harms and Hannah, Joshua Stack, Ayla and Barron Bart, Jake, Judson, and Jaxton Clark, greatgrandaughter Oaklynn Harms, sister Tammy and husband Tony Adkins of Haskell, mother- in-law Sybil Kendrick of Old Glory, and aunt Frankie Epley of Jud, Texas, and his beloved dog, Newt and numerous cousins and close friends.
