Gary David West, 77, passed away August 31, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am at the Roby First Baptist Church, Roby Texas on Saturday, September 16, 2023. The burial will be 10:30 am on Sunday, September 17 in Pickwick McAdams Cemetery, Possum Kingdom Lake Graford, Texas.

Gary David West was born September 25, 1945 to David Isaac and Alpha (McKay) West in Sweetwater, Texas. He went to Roby School. He was a Navy Vet who served on the USS Independence during the Vietnam War. In the Navy he worked as a welder.

Gary married Tempie Bridges November 22, 1971. They have shared fifty-two years together. Gary went to saddle making school in 1974. After finishing they moved to Seymour, Texas and opened West Saddler. In 1980 Gary and Tempie moved back to Roby with their son Ty Justin West, born November 22, 1979.

Gary loved being a rancher, his grandkids, outdoor cooking, reading, friends and family. Gary loved to dance; he met Tempie at the Texas Cowboy Reunion in Stagecoach in Stamford Texas and had danced for fifty-two years. They have gone September 25, 1945 — August 31, 2023

many a mile across Texas and met many new friends. Gary is a member of the Fisher County Rodeo Association. He enjoyed fishing and watching Rodeo on TV.

Gary worked as a rancher/ cowboy, welder, Fisher County Precinct 4. Gary went to work for TDCJ and retired in 2010. He was a vital asset and was incredible with training dogs.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, David Isaac and Alpha West; sister, Evelyn Musgrave; sister-in-law, Thelma Kimbrell; and son, Ty Justin West.

Gary is survived by his wife Tempie; grandchildren, Kyler, Kadee, and Sara; sister, Fern Arendell; brother-in-law, Travis Bridges (Kay Lynn); nephews, Russ Arendell (Sally), Lucas Bridges (Ana), Eli Bridges(Emily); niece Geslia Monroe (Alan); great nephews, Jordan, and Jesse,; great nieces, Micah Snider (Will), Julia, Sarah, Emma and Alexandria, and many friends.

He loved spending time with his friends and family, he had a contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes.
