Sally Virginia (Simmons) Etheredge was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend.
She was born on June 23, 1937 in Roby, Texas She passed from this world peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 29, 2023.
Sally was the daughter of the late Tom Alton and Cleo (Sullivan) Simmons. She lived in Roby until her graduation from Roby High School in May, 1955. She married Billy Charles (Bill) Etheredge on June 27, 1957 in Snyder, Texas. They lived in several different places in Texas until 1967 when they built their home three miles south of Roby. Sally was a teacher aide in the Roby School for 17 years and then was the secretary to the 2 principals for 8 years. She retired in June, 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her daughter, Tami Sue, two sisters (Charlene Sue Simmons and Cleo Simmons Webb), two brothers (Tom A. Simmons and Bill Simmons).
Survivors include two sons, Brad Etheredge and his wife, Minette (Geeslin), John Etheredge and his fiancé Nancy Durrani and her son Zafar; one granddaughter, Tambra (Etheredge) Eagan and her husband, Patrick; two great-grandsons, Connor and Caleb Eagan; one great-granddaughter, McKenzie Eagan; her brother, Doug Simmons, his wife, Geri; her sister, Dot Simmons; her Goddaughter, Tara Mulanax, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, her Sunday School Class, her church family, her class of 1955, and all of her family and friends.
Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Roby on October 12, 2023 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, rettsyndrome. org.
